Tuesday Tips to Tattoo the Ball – Tip toe to success
As most singles type hitters, it is best to keep the ball from gaining too much altitude. For hitters who lack power, fly balls are generally turning into easy outs. As I gained more experience in professional baseball, I learned to lay off the high pitch as much as possible in order to prevent those easy-out fly balls.
Of course, this was easier said than done because the high pitch is often so enticing, as for most hitters. Another adjustment I learned to make was to raise up on to the tips of the toes on high pitches so I could get on top of the ball without having to change the swing or to have to tomahawk the ball.
As players gain more experience, this habit becomes more possible, thereby preventing many easy pop outs.
